More and more museums are giving visitors online access to their most significant objects, curiosities, historical artefacts, and scientific and artistic exhibits. As iCademy Middle East is an online school, we thought that in this edition of Discovery Days, we would explore two of the best museums in the world, accessible at the click of a mouse.

The beauty of the K12 curriculum, iCademy Middle East’s home-schooling system is that it is fully supported by our dedicated team of online learning coaches and teachers who can make sure that your children are reaching all the expected academic milestones at a pace that works for them, while also supporting the at-home learning coach in guiding their charges to academic success.
While the ability to read confidently is vital to effective home-schooling, what is perhaps overlooked and undervalued is importance of mastering verbal language development. The confident use of language plays a vital part in school-life and its correct use should be given special attention – particularly if English is not the student’s mother tongue. Simply memorising the English language is not enough to encourage mental and verbal development. Conversation and the active use of language plays a much larger role in learning than is often credited.
Art can play a large role in academia, and studies have shown that children who have regular access to art do better in their more academic studies. But art is one of those subjects where arguably talent plays a greater role than perseverance and teaching may feel as if it requires real-world know-how.
Twice selected as ‘Best Edutainment Center in Dubai’, Little Explorers has captured the imaginations of kids aged two to seven years, providing what they call a “sanctuary of fun safety and learning”. Education with a twist is most decidedly on offer – a place where children can explore their environment with hands-on play and learn to understand the world around them.
Proactive, positive education delivered in dynamic, creative and flexible ways is key to the iCademy Middle East ethos. The school’s Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) department known as iCad+ is no different in this regard.
As a home-schooler, you are in a position to extend the types of education your children receive beyond that found in traditional schools. In many cases, mainstream schools miss the opportunity to teach kids some of the life lessons that will serve them day-to-day – in the world beyond the classroom. Learning at home has many benefits, not least of which is the extra time your kids have in the day, so why not make the most of that extra time to add a practical element to your schedule – in this instance cooking!
It may sound trite, but it bears repeating from time to time: children are not the same. They all have different personalities, different perspectives, and different preferences – particularly when it comes to schooling. It stands to reason that given the individuality of each child, that individual learning styles should be adopted – ways in which children absorb, process, comprehend, and retain information to best effect.
There are times when it is really valuable to pull your children away from their computer screens, get them out into the big wide world, and let them see what is going on. At iCademy Middle East we strongly encourage you to access and expose your students to whatever resources you have around you so that you broaden their horizons. These could be libraries, museums, an animal park, historical sites or places of geographical interest – even the park or the beach! There is so much out there that can give students hands-on experiences to inspire and re-energise their studies. We are committed to sharing ideas and resources with you to make the most out of your children’s learning.
